Findmypast - Complete images of the England and Wales Birth, Marriage and Death Indexes, searchable to a name and quarter but does not tell you if 'your specific record is there.Now includes the UK's Outbound Passenger lists for 1890-1920 and other new databases. Formerly 1837online
Scotlands People - The Scottish Records Office provides omline access to images of Birth, Death and marriage Certificates, the Census and the Old Parish Records, you can also order copies online
UK National Archives - The National Archives site provides information about UK Records. Links to Birth, Deaths and Marriages (Ordering Online), Some collections are available for purchase on line - for instance First World War Medals for both the Armed Services and the Merchant Navy.
