  troilus-mi.jpg - Douglas joined the Merchant Navy as a Fourth Engineer in 1943. U-859 was nearly sunk 3 times before fate placed her off Aden at the same time as the Troilus. 95 members of the crew survived, but Douglas was in the engine room when the torpedoes struck. 3 Weeks later U-859 was sunk by a British Submarine off Penang, her Fourth Engineer was the only German Officer to survive.
